Red Hormani Sword RARE
This version of red was developed by Robert Gasser, a famous grower in the 70s. He passed away a couple of years ago. It has a leaf shape like a red rubin, but much darker red. It grows slowly, needs only moderate light and is a heavy root feeder. Needs lots of nitrogen at the roots.
The horemani variety of Echinodorus was named after a botanist in England. He was a friend of Axlerod. Robert Gasser cultivated the plant and called it the Roseafolia sword in Florida in the late 70s early 80s. When Gasser retired, he gave away all his plants to various growers in Florida. There is one Cryptocoryne named after Gasser called the C. gasseri. Very hard to find now. I came across some C. gasseri a year or so ago. I sold them to a collector named Bob Olson, who grew them to flower and was able to confirm that it was indeeed C gasseri. I havn't seen the plants since then Horemani are not quite as rare as that, but still not that common either. They are more common in Europe. It is a man made cultivar, not a natural species. Most cultivars actually carry a patent.
