Zeomax

ZEOmax

Introduction - Aquatic plants need a constant supply of carbonic acid beside nitrogen food and light. This carbonic acid supply is usually in deficiency if the aquarium water is too soft, or if the aquarium is only sparsely populated with fish. Carbonic acid must then be supplemented.

Mode of operation:

    • Automatic
    • Reliable
    • Maintenance-free
    • Inexpensive
    • Each filling lasts for months
    • With no wearing parts

Operational principle of the ZEOmax:

From the reaction of acid with limestone (calcium carbonate), CO2 (carbon dioxide) results. This pressurized gas is directed by airline tubing into a diaphragm that is placed inside the aquarium. From there, water currents help diffuse the dissolved CO2 out into the water to fertilize the plants in the form of carbonic acid. The automatic mechanism of ZEOmax guarantees an even fertilization of the aquarium plants. The produced carbonic acid is control-released so it is impossible to harm any fish.

Operating instructions for the ZEOmax:

Connect the airline tubing (Verbindungsschlauches) to the nipple of the diffusion diaphragm (Diffusionsmembran) such that its balancing reservoir (Ausgleichsgefäß) points downward. Fasten the diaphragm with the suction cup deep inside the water so that it will not be exposed even during water changes. The other end of the airline tubing should be connected to the white dial (Verschlu().

Remove the exhaust plug (Entlüftungsstopfen) from the ZEOmax. Wear protective gloves and eyewear and cautiously pour diluted hydrochloric acid (5 to 10 %) slowly into the BIG white dial opening (Verschlu(). Fill up the reactor ONLY up to the acid level marking (Markierung für Säurestand) on the internal reaction chamber (Reacktionskammer)!

With the exhaust plug (Entlüftungsöffnung) tightly re-capped, put the piece of limestone into the internal tube through the white dial opening. Re-cap the white dial and make sure the words " Open / Fill " (Auf / Füllen) point to the exhaust hole. Observe how the CO2 forces its way into the diaphragm installed in the aquarium. If about 2/3 of the diaphragm are filled with CO2, turn the white dial quickly clockwise such that the word " Start " (Betrieb) points to the exhaust hole. The device is now ready for use and operates maintenance-free, until the limestone is exhausted.

If gas bubbles should visibly escape from the diaphragm membrane, take off the exhaust plug and turn the white dial counterclockwise. On the other hand if water is present in the diaphragm during operation, take off the exhaust plug and turn the white dial clockwise. In both cases, replace the exhaust plug for full operation after adjustment.

Please place to the ZEOmax underneath the aquarium during operation. Hydrochloric acid has to be replaced with fresh if the limestone is not gassing when in position "On / Filling" (Auf / Füllen).
